NALC2CD

Utility to copy NALC tapes to CD-R.

Function:

Copy North American Landuse Cover (NALC) archive images and corresponding Digital Elevation Model (DEM) to CD-R.

Parameters:

SCENEID
Input sceneid. This value is provided by GETMRLCMETA and is utilized in the creation of unique subdirectories for processing.

TAPEID
Tape identification. Library storage locations of input 3480 archive tapes. See User Note 1.

DATTYPE("D","I","I","I")
Input data types. The data type for each input image. See User Note 1.

	= D: DEM
	= I: IMAGE

CDID
CD identification. The output CD-R library storage location.

PATH
WRS Path. The WRS path of this image.

ROW
WRS Row. The WRS row of this image.

IDATE(--)
Image scene acquisition date. The date the images were acquired. Enter in MM/DD/YY format. This value is provided by GETMRLCMETA.

NCOPIES(1)
Number of copies. The total number of CDs to generate. One copy will always be generated for addition to the library. Additional copies may be generated for delivery to customers. The library copy will have a library label generated, and additional copies will have NALC customer labels.

Examples:

  1. nalc2cd sceneid=y53008 tapeid=(006322,006288,006321,006343) dattype=(d,i,i,i) cdid=cdtest path=010 row=029 idate=(00/00/00,05/26/70,05/26/82,05/26/92)

The library tapes specified in TAPEID, with the data types specified in DATTYPE are read to disk. This data was acquired on IDATE, and is geographically located at WRS path/row 010/029. The output CDwith a storage location of cdtest will be created with image and DEM data. Both a library CD-R and a customer deliverable CD-R will be created.

Description/Algorithm:

The NALC CCT archive is stored on 3480 tapes. Each scene is stored on one 3480 cartridge, each tape contains a binary data descriptor record (DDR) and a BSQ image file. Each DEM tape is stored with one binary DDR and one image file.

NALC2CD will copy the specified DEM and images from archive 3480 media to CD-R. A README and indexing summary files will be added to the CD-R. ASCII versions of the DDR file will be created in each data directory.

Nonfatal Error Messages:

    None.

Fatal Error Messages:

  1. [nalc2cd-data] Cannot process specified path/row

The specified combination of PATH and ROW cannot be processed. Either corresponding archive CD-WO has already been generated, of the specified input data does not exist in the nalc.meta file located in the operations specified working directory for NALC2CD.

  2. [nalc2cd-fatal] Fatal error encountered

The error message that is displayed immediately preceding this message is the specific error that was encountered. Processing is terminated.

  3. [nalc2cd-parm] Invalid <xxx> parameter

An invalid value was entered for the specified parameter. Re-run program with an appropriate parameter value.

  4. [nalc2cd-prod] Volume requires multiple CDs

The amount of data for this NALC path/row output CD exceeds 650Mb. This data will have to be converted to CD-R using a manual process. Contact the NALC Project Leader for resolution.

  5. [nalc2cd-tape] No tapes found

No tapes were located that correspond to the input parameters. Check all parameters to ensure they are correct and re-run.

User Notes:

  1. The DEM must be listed first, with image tapes following in sequence.
