INTRODUCTION

Functional Summary

GETCALTYPE will return the calibration method historically used for a given AVHRR scene.

Comments

None.

BACKGROUND

The user is often unsure of the most appropriate calibration technique to be applied to an AVHRR scene (contingent upon which NOAA satellite and the date of acquisition). This routine may be called prior to calling AVHRRCAL (AVHRR calibration) to determine the calibration technique historically employed. It may also be used to determine the most probable calibration type that was used for an existing calibrated scene or composite.

SCOPE/LIMITATIONS

None.

OVERALL DESIGN

The satellite number and date of acquisition are determined from the specified scene identifier. The appropriate table is read to determine if a calibration technique is available for the specified acquisition date. If the calibration technique is found in the table, it is returned; otherwise, an error status is returned.
