EDC live acquisition scheduling (AUTOGEN)
You may schedule HRPT data to be received directly from the satellite
using the AUTOGEN option in the File menu. This may also be accomplished
using the ADAPS module AUTOGEN. For more information on how scenes are
automatically selected, see the AUTOGEN User's
Guide.
The AUTOGEN panel includes many items to customize the selection of
live-acquisition data:

- The satellite number. It is selected through a pull-down option menu.
- The target location, or location of the receiving station. It is
specified in decimal degrees latitude and longitude. The default indicates
the EROS Data Center, Sioux Falls, SD. The coverage of live acquisition
available at that target is indicated by the circle in the world map on
the main XPLOT panel.
- Start and stop dates. Scenes for a range of dates may be scheduled all
at one time. These fields must be filled in. If the stop
date is left blank, only scenes for the start date will be selected.
- Start and stop times. These times indicate a range during each day for
which scenes will be selected. Scenes meeting all other criteria for distance
from the target and scene length, that fall outside these time limits, will
not be scheduled.
- Maximum distance from target. This field is specified in nautical miles.
Only scenes within this distance of the target will be selected.
- Minimum pass duration (hh:mm:ss). Only passes longer than this amount of
time will be selected. Some scenes which fall near the limit of distance from
target may be in view for less than the minimum pass duration.
- Variance time about the target (hh:mm:ss). This is the maximum variance
time allowed from the start of the pass to the point where it is closest to the
target. This field is used to set a maximum length of a scene, which will be
(2 * variance time). If this field is left unspecified, the length of the
pass will be limited only by the length of time the satellite is in view.
- Operation mode. This field is set in the master schedule to indicate
what the acquisition software should do with the pass. The options are:
- 0: Do not acquire
- 1: Acquire on disk
- 2: Acquire on HDT tape
- 3: Acquire on disk and HDT tape
- 5: Copy from HDT tape to disk
- Output file name. Each time scenes are scheduled, a report is appended to
the indicated file name.
- Review options. These options govern which scenes you will see
on the main panel when AUTOGEN has completed.
- Review scheduled passes. All passes which will be scheduled will be
displayed in the scene list on the main panel.
- Review non-scheduled passes. All passes which came near the target but
were not scheduled due to the distance from target, time limits, or length
limits, will be displayed in the scene list on the main panel. Those scenes
that are scheduled will not appear on the main panel, but can be displayed
using the "Review scheduled passes" option in the File menu.
- Review both. All passes which came near the target will be displayed.
The status indicator on the main panel will indicate if each scene was
scheduled or not.
When AUTOGEN has completed, the requested scenes will be displayed in the
scene list on the main panel, and you will have the opportunity to delete or
schedule each one.
Three buttons appear at the bottom of the AUTOGEN panel. The Accept button
causes scenes to be scheduled for the indicated parameters and closes the
AUTOGEN panel. The Cancel button will close the AUTOGEN panel without
scheduling any passes. The Help button causes this help session to start up.
