Pre- and post-coverage data will be provided. These data represent a rapid assessment for the 2001 fire season within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Fire perimeter and preliminary analysis for burn severity (differenced normalized burn ratio) are provided on the following fires: 1) Sharp, 2) Green Mountain. Analysis was performed using Landsat Thematic Mapper data. Purpose: The purpose of this project is to discern land characteristics of fire perimeters over an extended period of time. Our goal is to assist the NPS in determining changes taking place during the recovery period and in reassessment after regeneration of the landcover.
