Are you using geospatial data distributed by the LP DAAC in your research? Did you know that citing the data in your work increases the visibility of your research making it easier for others to find? It also helps us make more accurate and diverse data for you in the future. Here's how.

When you properly cite the data in your research it raises data awareness. This allows other researchers in your field to find the same data so they can verify your results, replicate your method in their study area, or explore new and unique uses of the data. Citing the data also helps the LP DAAC find your research showing us how real world users are actually using the data. It can also help us understand how the data are working for you or bring previously unknown issues to our attention so we can continually improve our data products and services.

How do we find your papers? It's simple. Each data product distributed by the LP DAAC has its own digital object identifier (DOI). When you include DOIs in your papers, it brings your research to our attention. 

Here's how to locate a DOI:

- Visit the LP DAAC's website at lpdaac.usgs.gov
- Hover over Data in the menu
- Click on Search Data Catalog
- Search for a data product
- Select it
- Now you're on the DOI landing page for that product. From here, click on our handy citation link.

This will bring up the DOI for the data product and a citation example in both APA and Chicago styles which you can copy and paste into the references section of your paper.

That's it! Now you know how to properly cite the data.
